After being left alone with this laptop for a few weeks, I have done enough testing to figure out a lot of things. Especially whether this laptop is worth the price tag on 2022, so is this laptop worth it? Let’s find out!

Design

Design

The Lenovo Ideapad 330-15 AMD has a very sleek and gentle design that really looks pretty compact and sophisticated. Following a minimalistic aesthetic, this design looks very clean and simple. I actually like this design aesthetic since I personally prefer neat and clean laptop designs, which makes me productive.

However, as much as I like simple designs, the design of this laptop is just way too simple. Too much simplicity will often take the zany elements out of good designs. There has to be something to attract buyers when they look at a laptop. This laptop, unfortunately, has none.

Display

Display

The Lenovo IdeaPad 330-15 AMD has a decent 15.6” screen. It is pretty average compared to other laptops in this price range, having a full HD display. It has a 1920×1080 display resolution, which is basic for most budget laptops. This laptop also has a 60Hz refresh rate.

On the technical side, it also performs pretty averagely compared to other laptops in this price range. However, it is dimmer than most laptops, having a peak brightness of 188 nits compared to the average of 218 nits at this price range.

While watching movies, I was able to see most of the details of the movies I watched. However, its dimness at the highest brightness settings does take away some of the vividness I would like to see in a laptop display.

Keyboard And Touchpad

Keyboard And Touchpad

The keyboard of the Lenovo IdeaPad 330-15 AMD is pretty decent. Actually, I would consider it better than most of its peers in the same price range. Even though it is not a mechanical keyboard, it has a soft but great tactile feel to it. I liked it a lot.

The touchpad is just like any other standard touchpad. It is smooth to touch and is pretty responsive. I measured its response rate and accuracy by using many Windows 10 gestures. The trackpad responded pretty well to it, accurately registering even the lightest touches. However, I still prefer using a mouse.

Connectivity And Ports

Connectivity And Ports

The Lenovo Ideapad 330-15 AMD has all the essential ports that you would like to expect from a laptop. The I/O ports of this device are placed in the right spots, making wire management easier.

This laptop has two USB 3.0 ports, along with a USB 3.0 Type C port. The Type C port is a rare sight indeed since most other laptops in this price range don’t have it.

However, the best addition was the SD card slot, which I appreciated a lot. It also has a 3.5mm jack for audio outputs. In addition, it has an HDMI cable if you want to connect it to another monitor or your TV.

This laptop also has an ethernet port and a compact DVD drive.

Battery

Battery

In my opinion, the battery was one of the worst aspects of the Lenovo IdeaPad 330-15 AMD. After using it casually for a few hours, the “Your battery is low. Please connect to a charger” popped up in all its bluish glory on my screen. As I checked the time, it’s just been four hours. And I was not even gaming.

This was pretty low compared to other laptops in the same price range. Granted that this is not exactly meant to be used as a gaming laptop, it still has less-than-average battery power. Even if you are simply surfing the web and watching your favorite movies on Netflix, the battery still does not provide enough juice to make the experience worthwhile.

Performance

Performance

Now coming to the primary aspect of the Lenovo IdeaPad 330-15 AMD, how well does this laptop perform? Considering its low-end specs, it performs as well (and as badly) as you would expect it to.

Being a budget laptop, it has a pretty decent performance when it comes to productivity. By productivity, I mean doing simple office tasks omn applications like Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and more.

However, if you want to do more graphically intensive work like editing using apps like Photoshop and video editors, then it’s best not to. As an Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro user, both the apps lagged a lot while many layers were open with many effects.

However, you can still use other browser-based applications like Adobe Express and Canva pretty easily. These graphic designers do not require a high hardware requirement to run.

If you want to game on this laptop, do not expect anything at all. All the modern games lagged a lot, even in the lower settings. In the gaming performance test, Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Witcher 3 ran at 20-30 fps at low settings.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):

Q1. Is The Lenovo IdeaPad 330 Good For Gaming?

Ans- No, Lenovo IdeaPad 330-15 AMD is not a good laptop for gaming. Since it runs on the older AMD Ryzen 5 2500U and an integrat5ed AMD Radeon Vega 8 graphics card, one can expect to play pre-2014 games quite comfortably.

Q2. Which Is Better, IdeaPad or ThinkPad?

Ans- When it comes to measuring the performance between the two sub-brands, the Lenovo ThinkPad performs better in every aspect. It excels as a laptop for office goers. The IdeaPad, on the other hand, is meant for casual users.

Q3. Which Brand Is Better, HP Or Lenovo?

Ans- When it comes to the looks and design department, Lenovo laptops are better than HP laptops, considering their lower prices. On the other hand, when it comes to performance and gaming, HP laptops will beat Lenovo laptops hands-down.

Q4. How Long Does A Lenovo IdeaPad Last?

Ans- The answer to this question depends on how you use a laptop. If you use a laptop with care and do not let it get overheated very frequently, then expect it to last around 4 to 5 years. If you use it heavily and give a lot of load to it, expect the years to be shorter.

Final Verdict: Is The Lenovo IdeaPad 330-15 Worth It In 2022?

The Lenovo IdeaPad 330-15 AMD is a great laptop if you have a smaller, limited budget. At this price range of $349, it offers value for money as it offers decent performance and features. If you want a laptop for causal uses like watching movies, and doing some light productivity and gaming, then this laptop will be apt for you.

However, if you want this laptop to give you great performance s all its sectors, then this is not the one. This laptop suffers from having a poor battery life, even when compared to its budgetary peers. In addition, its limited RAM and weak integrated graphics card provides sub-par performance.

Therefore, this succeeds as a laptop for casual users. If you want more performance in graphics-heavy sectors like gaming, photoshop, and video editing, then your experience will be easier if you have a beefier laptop.
