iMac Pro i7 4k Review

iMac Pro i7 4k Review .

After seeing this beautiful and sleek all in one computer in my desk one day, I was overjoyed to say the last. Having previously used the MacBook laptops, I had to see for myself what this jump from a MacBook to an iMac does overall.

Build And Design

Build And Design

The iMac Pro i7 4K has a pretty sleek design that looks wonderful when it suits atop a neat and clean desk. It looks sleek with a coat of premium over it, especially if you select the Silver color which I used. While it does not have a matte finish, its gloss still looks pretty cool and sleek. I am considering all the parts fitted inside the back of the display as if it’s nothing.

If you check on the topmost front part of the display, you will find a wireless camera embedded in it. It also has two stereo speakers on the bottom of the display.

Display

Display

There are two variants of the iMac Pro i7 4K – one with a 21.5” screen and then another one with a 27” display. Both versions have 4K resolution (4096p x 2304p). In addition, both also come equipped with LED Widescreen retina displays.

The picture quality of the iMac displays is amazing, partly due to its 4K resolution. While watching movies on Netflix, I was able to make out even the most minute display on the screen, with the frame transitions being smooth as silk.

Each color and flicker pops up on the screen with its maximum potential. Also, the retina display ensures that we see a clear picture even from the sides of the screen, which otherwise would have turned darker.

Keyboard And Mouse

Keyboard And Mouse

Apple have always provided top-shelf high-quality keyboards and mouse with the MacBook’s and iMacs. Therefore, the iMac Pro i7 4K is no different in this regard.

The keyboard has a pretty look with a white-silver color to it. When I used it for typing Bing articles for my blogs, I could feel that each key press had a certain responsive feel to it. The tactile feel of mechanical keyboards comes close to defining it. Therefore, I certainly felt great as I had a smooth and responsive typing experience.

The mouse is pretty much like any other  ice in the market. It has two buttons along with a scroll button. What separates the iMac mouse from a normal mouse is its flatter design compared to the curves of normal mice. However, there is no DPI changing button and other extra thumb mouse buttons that you can find in gaming mice for Windows PCs.

Connectivity

Connectivity

If you are worried about the number of ports available, then the iMac Pro i7 4K has plenty of them. It has 4x USB 3.0 ports along with 2x USB 3.0 Type C or “Thunderbolt” ports.

Performance

Performance

Coming to the main meat of this iMac Pro i7 4K review, how well does its performance hold up to similarly priced Windows PCs? Needless to say, it’s pretty solid. The 8th Generation Intel Core i7 8700K 3.2 GHz processors are pretty powerful when used in combination with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX 2GB graphical power.

Couple this with 16GB of RAM (which can be expanded by 32GB due to its additional RAM slot), and it provides near flawless performance. While the macOS is great on its own, it runs even smoother and faster when you have such specs to boost its performance.

Apps like the Microsoft Office 365 suite alongside video editors like Final Cut Pro ran super smoothly. I was able to edit 4K videos with ease and even get faster render speeds with such splendid specs.
